2022 Toyota RAV4 and 2022 RAV4 Prime: what are their differences?
The main differences between the 2022 Toyota RAV4 and the 2022 Toyota RAV4 Prime lies in their technical specs: while the base RAV4 is only available with a gasoline engine, the RAV4 Prime is a Toyota plug-in hybrid SUV.
So, besides being incredibly fuel efficient, the Prime can also run in all-electric mode. It also offers more power, but we’ll cover that later.

Battery and Range of the 2022 RAV4 Prime
The RAV4 Prime is a plug-in hybrid equipped with a battery that can be charged in just 2.5 hours. What’s more, its hybrid powertrain will allow you to drive up to 68 km in all-electric mode! Its total range is of 979 km.
Towing and Cargo Capacity
All versions of the gasoline-powered Toyota RAV4 offer a towing capacity of 1,500 pounds, except for the RAV4 Trail which can tow up an impressive 3,500 pounds.
The RAV4 Hybrid delivers a maximum towing capacity of 1750 pounds, while on the RAV4 Prime the maximum capacity climbs to 2500 pounds.
Also note that the RAV4 Prime offers slightly less cargo space than the RAV4 and RAV4 Hybrid. Its total cargo volume ranges from 949 to 1790 litres depending on whether you fold the rear seats down or not.
The cargo volume for all other RAV4 models ranges between 1059 and 1977 litres.
