More and more people are talking about these small urban SUVs. If these famous SUVs arouse your curiosity, you'll be interested in what the comparison between the 2020 Hyundai Kona and the 2020 Toyota C-HR tells us. The team at Longueuil Toyota invites you to view its exceptional selection of Toyota SUVs, including all versions of the 2020 C-HR.
The 2020 Toyota C-HR presented by your Toyota dealer in Longueuil, not far from Brossard and Boucherville, is equipped with a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder engine with dual overhead camshafts and dual variable valve timing with intelligence. This Valvematic engine is paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT) and front-wheel drive. The combination produces 144 horsepower and 139 lb-ft of torque at 3,800 rpm, and consumes only 8.7 L/100 km in the city, 7.5 L/100 km on the highway and 8.2 L/100 km city/highway combined.
The 2020 Hyundai Kona is powered by a 2.0L Atkinson I-4 engine that produces roughly the same power as the C-HR Valvematic, namely 147 horsepower and 132 lb-ft of torque at 4,500 rpm, a slightly higher rpm than the C-HR. This engine is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. The Atkinson engine of the Kona is a conventional engine, without latest technologies such as those found in the Valvematic engine of the 2020 C-HR. Its 6-speed automatic transmission also seems completely dated compared to the CVT transmission of the 2020 C-HR. The 2020 Kona's combined city/highway fuel consumption is similar to that of the 2020 C-HR, at 7.9 L/100 km.
Here too, Toyota’s technology proves superior to Hyundai's technology. In fact, the 2020 C-HR you'll discover at your Longueuil Toyota dealership on the South Shore of Montreal is equipped with front and rear disc brakes, anti-lock braking system, brake assist and electronic brake force distribution. In addition, the C-HR's Brake Hold feature keeps the brakes active when you take your foot off the brake pedal. When you start off at a green light and step on the gas, the brakes are released, and you drive normally.
The 2020 Kona's brake system does not include this brake holding feature.
Like the 2020 Hyundai Kona, the 2020 Toyota C-HR is equipped with AM/FM/MP3 radio with 6 speakers, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, hands-free telephony and Bluetooth connectivity. However, while the Kona inherits a 7-inch screen, the driver and front passenger of the C-HR benefit from an 8-inch touch screen display.
With the exception of the entry-level 2.0 Essential model, all versions of the Kona are equipped with Blind Spot Collision Warning and Rear Cross Traffic Collision Warning. In contrast, only the top-of-the-line 2.0 Luxury and 1.6 T Ultimate models receive Hyundai SmartSense, which combines Lane Keeping Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist with Pedestrian Detection and Driver Attention Warning.
In comparison, like all Toyota-built vehicles, every 2020 C-HR comes standard with several safety driving assistances from more advanced technology than the 2020 Kona. The Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 includes:
The Kona vs. C-HR comparison shows that the latter offers much more advanced technology and mechanical engineering than the 2020 Hyundai Kona.
And remember that you'll benefit from the exceptional resale value of Toyota vehicles by buying or leasing the 2020 C-HR urban SUV at your Longueuil Toyota dealership.
