To date, more than 15 million Toyota hybrid vehicles have been sold worldwide. Toyota has long mastered hybrid technology, while Ford is just beginning to make inroads in this area. Let's take a look at a comparison of the 2020 Ford Escape Toyota Titanium Hybrid and the 2020 RAV4 Hybrid. On the South Shore of Montreal, your Longueuil Toyota dealership invites you to see the 2020 RAV4 Hybrid as well as its impressive selection of Toyota SUVs.
The 2020 Escape Titanium Hybrid is just one version of the Ford Escape. It comes with a powertrain consisting of a 2.5L 4-cylinder Atkinson cycle gas engine, an 88-kW electric motor and a 1.4-kW/h hybrid battery pack, all paired with an Electric Continuously Variable Transmission (eCVT). This powertrain develops 200 horsepower. With all-wheel drive, the 2020 Titanium Hybrid has a combined city/highway fuel consumption rating of 5.9 L/100 km.
The 2020 RAV4 Hybrid, which you'll see at the Toyota dealership in Longueuil, near Boucherville, is powered by a 2.5L 4-cylinder combustion engine with dual overhead camshafts and dual variable valve timing with intelligence, combined with Toyota's proven Hybrid Synergy Drive system and CVT transmission. The XLE, XSE and Limited models also feature sport-tuned front suspension. This powertrain produces 219 horsepower and is able to tow 794 kg (1,750 lb), while the Escape Hybrid has no towing capacity. The 2020 RAV4 Hybrid consumes 5.7 L/100 km in the city and has a combined fuel efficiency rating of 6.0 L/100 km.

The 2020 Escape Titanium comes standard with the Co-Pilot360 option group, which combines Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking, Blind Spot Warning with Cross Traffic Alert, Lane Keeping and Automatic High Beams.
For their part, all 2020 RAV4 Hybrids are equipped as standard with the Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 suite. The technologies included with TSS 2.0 are more advanced than that of the 2020 Ford Escape Titanium. TSS 2.0 brings together:
In addition, the following technologies complement the TSS 2.0 suite:
The 2020 Escape Hybrid is only available in one version, the 2020 Titanium Hybrid. In contrast, the 2020 RAV4 Hybrid deploys a range of 4 models (LE, XLE, XSE and Limited). The base 2020 Ford Titanium with front-wheel drive starts at $32,603 and the Ford Titanium with all-wheel drive starts at $36,038. The 2020 RAV4 Hybrid has a suggested retail price (MSRP) of $34,689. All versions come standard with intelligent all-wheel drive.
All hybrid components of the 2020 RAV4 Hybrid are guaranteed for 8 years or 160,000 km. The hybrid battery is guaranteed for 10 years or 240,000 km. The Ford’s hybrid parts and battery don't seem to be covered by such a comprehensive and long-term protection.
The Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC) has awarded the 2020 Toyota RAV4 the title of Best 2020 Small Utility Vehicle. With a lower MSRP than the 2020 Ford Escape Titanium Hybrid, more power, towing capacity that the Escape Hybrid lacks, 4 models instead of one, a battery and hybrid components with long-term warranties, a safety system with newer technologies than the Escape, and high resale value, the 2020 RAV4 Hybrid is certainly a great investment.
