Discover the 2019 Toyota Mirai, the Hydrogen Electric vehicle from Toyota!

The 2019 Toyota Mirai will soon be available in Canada and is the first standard hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicle. It is silent and powerful, has a great autonomy, doesn’t emit CO2 and doesn’t consume fossil fuels.

If you are concerned about the environment and have decided to buy a hybrid vehicle on Montreal’s South Shore, you’ll find it at your Longueuil Toyota dealership near Brossard and Boucherville.

In fact, we offer the complete line of self-charging Toyota hybrids. Either buying or leasing an SUV or a Toyota hybrid car, you’ll save a lot of money thanks to our Toyota promotions and our Toyota financing plans.

Perfectly energy efficient, the 2019 Mirai delivers 151 horsepower, a torque of 247 ft-lb and a 500 km autonomy. It takes barely 5 minutes to charge its hydrogen reserve.

But how does a Toyota electric vehicle that uses hydrogen fuel cell technology work?

Hydrogen is the most abundant element on our blue planet. It is found mainly in water and can easily be extracted from it by electrolysis. During this process, an electric current is passed through water and separates the hydrogen and oxygen.

The way the 2019 Toyota Mirai works is very simple:

  1. 1. You fill up with hydrogen the way you would with an ordinary vehicle.

  1. 2. The hydrogen is pumped and stored in the very secure Mirai reservoirs. They are made with polymer and carbon fiber.

  1. 3. While the Mirai is running, the hydrogen goes from the fuel cell where it mixes with the oxygen found in the air. This chemical reaction delivers electricity to the Mirai.

  1. 4. As soon as you press down on the accelerator, the electricity produced by the fuel cell is delivered to the electric engine.

  1. 5. During braking, the energy collected is stored in the metal hydride batteries to fuel the 2019 Mirai and to provide the support power when you accelerate and when the energy requirement is more significant.
